Huatulco Bays a Lovely Paradise
Huatulco is a very unique beach in Mexico, if you are familiar with other beach sites in Mexico, you will see that Huatulco Bays are a completely different story.
It is very different from the most common beaches in Mexico, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Los Cabos. Here you will see a different tourist type, Huatulco makes you feel relaxed and happy instantly!
Huatulco is located in the state of Oaxaca and the easiest way to visit is by plane, it has an international airport so, nothing to worry about.
Arriving you’ll see a very different airport; a big, fresh and perfect Palapa. That airport makes me feel ready for vacations!

Huatulco has 9 beautiful Bays and 36 beaches, I’m sure you will find more than one perfect for you.
Santa Cruz Bay, Tangolunda Bay, and Chahué Bay have most of the hotels, bars, restaurants, stores and more.
And some others are exactly the opposite; quiet, relaxing and almost virgin beaches. There are several tours you can choose if you are interested in visiting all the bays. You can do it with more people or private to take your time on each one and enjoy it all day.
I took the bays tour on my second day in Huatulco and I highly recommend it. The bays are very different from each other, it is an all-day tour, perfect to know them all.
Just a recommendation, you may need some Dramamine in case you get dizzy on boats as I do!
Activities in Huatulco, Mexico
There are a lot of activities in Huatulco, despite I said it is a relaxing place that doesn’t mean boring, you have a lot of options to do if you feel more adventurous.
My favorite was the ATVs Jungle Tour, it is really in the middle of the jungle and you will visit a small virgin beach that you couldn’t imagine. It is amazing and it was a great surprise for me.
But also, you can:
Snorkeling, Dive, Fishing, Surfing, Rafting, or do Zip Lines.
More to Do in Huatulco Bays and Town
In the afternoon, I invite you to visit La Crucecita, an authentic small town where you can find a market, restaurants, handicrafts and a little church in honor of La Virgen de Guadalupe.
What stands out in the church is the ceiling, a painting of La Virgen de Guadalupe of almost 98 ft. It is the largest painting of the virgin in the world. Painted by the Mexican José del Signo.
At the market you can try delicious food from Oaxaca, maybe some Mexican candies or admire the handicrafts that the people from Oaxaca make, they are authentic artists! To get to La Crucecita just ask for a taxi, it is really close to the hotel’s area so you can explore it easily.
Where to stay and eat in Huatulco
You will find many options for accommodation in Huatulco; small hotels, Airbnb, hostels, or big beautiful resorts.
I stayed at the Dreams Resort and Spa and the rooms, beach, pool, were great. The food was delicious too, the International and the Mexican. And the service was wonderful, friendly and good.
If you choose an all-inclusive resort they have great and delicious restaurants, but if you prefer another choice you will have delicious Mexican or International food options.
Either way try the authentic food of Oaxaca, the chocolate, mole, mezcal and if you can the grasshoppers are delicious!
