Catamaran Tour at the Mexican Caribbean
One of the best activities to do in Cancun is a Catamaran Tour visiting Isla Mujeres, exploring the beautiful Mexican Caribbean and the Island.
I have visited Isla Mujeres on several occasions, but this is a very different way to enjoy the beautiful sea and a unique adventure. Not disappointed at all!
I finally bought this Day Trip to enjoy an activity that was much better than I expected. I did the tour in late summer, but any season is perfect.

Catamaran Tour at the Mexican Caribbean, Cancun to Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a charming island located in front of Cancun, Mexico. It is a 7-hour tour, so there is enough time to enjoy all the activities since the island is very close.
It is a perfect family activity, there is no age restriction for children and I am sure for them it’s a Fantastic Adventure!
My day began at 9:30 am arriving at the Marina that is located in the hotel zone of Cancun.
The staff gives you a bracelet and they guide you near the pier where they give you a brief talk about the Catamaran Tour. During the briefing, they offer you water, orange juice, and cookies. Either way, I recommend you to make a light breakfast that day.
Now excited and ready to start the adventure, I went up to the catamaran.
You can sit indoors during the tour or on the deck to enjoy the best view, of course, I choose to do it on the deck.
Onboard, as part of the crew, there is a bilingual tour guide, which will make your trip even more fun. I have to say that during the whole excursion you can enjoy an Open Bar.
There is nothing that compares to the exciting and at the same time relaxing experience of sailing in the Caribbean. During the tour, I saw a great variety of boats, yachts, a navy ship, sailboats, and even a pirate ship.
During the trip there is music and a great atmosphere, the journey is slower than doing it by ferry and of course you also enjoy more.
Arriving at the Caribbean Island
Approaching to Isla Mujeres, you will see the different shades of blue in the sea, the water is so clear that it allows you to see the bottom.
We arrive at an exclusive Beach Club to have lunch and enjoy the beach. You will have enough time to eat and relax in one of the lounge chairs or hammocks, swimming or go for a kayak ride.
Lunch at the Beach Club
The Lunch includes a buffet in a big palapa, you’ll love the beautiful ocean view while you eat. Depending on the tour you choose you can access the regular buffet or one with a little more variety and Mexican grill.
My tour included the regular buffet and I can tell you that it was better than I imagined.
The buffet includes Fresh Fruit, Salads, Pasta, Pizza, Tacos, Nachos, Rice, Beans, and Desserts. And of course, drinks are also included. Mexican Aguas Frescas, Beer, Tequila, Soda, Juice, and More.
After the meal, it was time to relax on the beautiful beach, a walk through the pier and delight with the view.
Snorkeling adventure at the Catamaran
The moment I was waiting for was finally here, Snorkeling Time!
For me, snorkeling is an exciting but relaxing activity at the same time, and being able to do it in the beauty of the Mexican Caribbean is amazing.
Snorkeling activity is optional, if you don’t want to do it you can stay on the boat.
That day the current was a little stronger, a situation that is not common in that area, but sometimes it happens when there is a storm nearby. In any case, it was safe to do the activity. The normal situation is almost no waves and the sea seems like a clearwater pool.
It is an unforgettable experience to explore the natural coral reef in the Caribbean and also the artificial reefs that have been created in the place to help marine life.
The staff provides you with all the equipment and they do the activity with you to make sure you are safe.
In addition to Snorkeling, the trip can include Spinnaker activity, which I have never done and I was quite excited.
These two activities depend on weather conditions, and Spinnaker could not be done that day. It is something that is understood and of course, safety is the most important part.

Sightseeing Isla Mujeres
To end the day in the best way, the last part of the activity is free time to explore a bit of Isla Mujeres. The time you will have is not much, but it is enough to walk its streets and visit North Beach, the most beautiful beach on the island.
If you are interested you can see or buy Mexican crafts, a very unique Tequila, embroidered clothing or maybe a souvenir.
To fully know Isla, I recommend you to dedicate a full day and I assure you that it will be a wonderful experience.

What should you bring for the Catamaran Tour
There are some things that are essential for you to have the best experience.
You can’t use regular sunscreen during the trip. To take care of the environment and the reefs, it is necessary to wear a Biodegradable Sunblock.
It is easy to get and it will be very useful if you plan to visit one of the Ecological Parks of Quintana Roo and of course to swim in underground rivers, cenotes or in the sea.
Hat, Sunglasses, and Towel
Maybe I don’t need to tell you but you are very likely to enjoy a sunny day, so this is very important.
If you have an underwater camera or a waterproof phone case do not forget to take them.
Motion Sickness Bracelet
If you are like me and you get dizzy, you can wear a motion sickness wristband or take sickness medicine.
The Sailing Adventure Tips
There are different types of experiences, the route is the same, only change the type of catamaran, the number of passengers, some amenities, duration of the tour, and of course the price.
- They provide you the Snorkeling Equipment and lifejacket.
- Port Tax Fee is not included.
It was a spectacular day trip, the Catamaran Tour at the Mexican Caribbean is an experience that I really wanted to do.
If you have the opportunity, I’m sure you will have a great trip!
